06.04.2023

American entrepreneurs are interested in implementing a project to establish production of needle coke, and on its basis, graphite electrodes at the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Board of Westport Trading Europe Limited, Nikolai Yurchenko, who arrived in Turkmenistan as part of a visit by representatives of the US business community, the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reports.

Basic engineering developments have already been discussed and agreed upon with specialists from the TKNPZ, and the implementation of production based on the complex’s capacities will take place in the shortest possible time.

The company also presented a project for the construction of a new gas condensate and oil mixture rectification unit with a capacity of 1 million tons at the Seidi Oil Refinery.

At present, graphite is actively used in the nuclear, metallurgical, chemical and space industries. The number of its suppliers to the market is limited. Due to the decrease in its global output, Turkmenistan has wide opportunities in this area.

The head of the company also focused on environmental protection technologies, noting the possibility of large-scale hydrogen production in Turkmenistan. Hydrogen is considered an alternative energy source, one of the most promising types of fuel.
